In this week’s class, we will explore a different training structure. For half the class, the training will take the form of a normal session where everyone will be required to freestyle in a cypher-style circle. This type of training will be held every month in hopes of preparing everyone for battle season.

Freestyle Cypher: This cypher is intended to challenge participants’ creativity, endurance, and musicality. Music will alternate from high, medium and slow BPM to really have the dancers explore new musical contexts. In addition, they will be encouraged to continue the cypher as long as possible. With 4-5 participants, I expect a 45 minute cypher should be no problem at all. This exercise will also challenge dancers to not repeat moves and frameworks when dancing.
